Yellow Dragon Fruit Cutting – Heirloom & Untreated

Golden Yellow Variety | Large, Sweet Fruit

Cultivate your own source of exquisite tropical fruit with this rare, heirloom Yellow Dragon Fruit cutting. This variety is prized for producing exceptionally large, aromatic fruits with sweet, succulent flesh. A stunning and productive addition to any garden, it typically flowers and fruits twice per year under optimal conditions. For the best fruit set, this variety requires hand-pollination with another dragon fruit plant.

Key Features:

  • Rare Golden Yellow Variety: Known for its superior size and sweetness.

  • Heirloom & Untreated: A naturally grown, chemical-free cutting.

  • Productive Perennial: Can produce two bountiful harvests per year.

  • Needs a Partner: Requires a second dragon fruit plant for pollination and optimal fruiting.

Growing Guide for Australian Climates:
A vigorous, climbing cactus that is easy to grow in most Australian regions, from subtropical to temperate (frost-free areas).

Initial Care & Planting:

  1. On Arrival: Give your cutting a few days to acclimate in a shaded, sheltered spot.

  2. Potting: You can start it in a pot or plant it directly into its final, well-drained position. Water thoroughly after planting.

  3. Support: This is a climbing cactus and requires a strong trellis, stake, or fence for support as it grows.

Ideal Conditions:

  • Climate: Thrives in warm, frost-free climates. Protect from frost in cooler regions. Ideal for Queensland and NSW coastal areas.

  • Sun: Loves full sun (6+ hours) but tolerates partial shade, especially in intensely hot inland areas.

  • Soil: Prefers free-draining soil. Cactus mix is perfect for pots. In gardens, plant in slightly raised beds or mounds to prevent waterlogging.

  • Watering: Water moderately once established. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. It is drought-tolerant but will produce better fruit with regular watering during the growing and fruiting season.

What to Expect:

  • Acclimatisation: As our plants are grown in partial shade, gradually introduce your cutting to more sun over 7-10 days to prevent sunburn.

  • Time to Fruit: With good care, you can expect your first harvest within 2 years of planting.
