This unique Low Latex Jackfruit variety produces the same massive, sweet, and aromatic fruits as traditional types, but with a significantly reduced latex content. This makes preparation incredibly easier and much more enjoyable—no more battling stubborn, gluey sap when handling your homegrown harvest.
A fast-growing, evergreen tropical tree, jackfruit is not only a spectacular ornamental but also a highly productive food source. Planting & Growing Tips
-
Initial Care: Upon arrival, give your plant a good drink and place it in a partially shaded, sheltered spot. Allow it to recover from its journey in the original pot for at least a week before transplanting.
-
Transplanting: Re-pot into a large container or plant into the garden when roots begin to emerge from the drainage holes. Water thoroughly immediately after planting.
-
Position: Requires a warm, frost-free, and sunny position to thrive. It will grow in partial shade but produces best in full sun. It prefers well-drained, fertile soil and will not tolerate waterlogged conditions.
-
Space: Remember, this is a tree that can grow very large. Ensure you have adequate space for its mature size, or be prepared to manage its growth in a very large container.
-
Fruiting: Patience is key. A tree grown from a grafted plant can fruit in 2-4 years, while a seedling may take 4-8 years.
Additional Notes
-
Sun Acclimatisation: Our nursery plants are grown in partial shade. To prevent sun shock, gradually introduce them to full sun over 1-2 weeks before planting them in their permanent position.
-
A Long-Term Investment: This is a spectacular, long-lived tree that will become a cornerstone of your tropical or subtropical food forest for decades to come.
