Jasmine Tea PLANT – Untreated & Heirloom – Jasminum sambac – Fragrant Flowers with Many Uses

Bring the enchanting scent of jasmine into your garden with this untreated, heirloom Jasminum sambac plant. This evergreen small shrub grows up to 2 meters tall and produces clusters of small, waxy white flowers, treasured worldwide for their sweet, highly aromatic fragrance. Whether you grow it in the ground or in a pot, this jasmine will reward you with beauty, scent, and a wealth of practical uses.

Uses & Benefits:

  • Calming Tea: The dehydrated blossoms make a wonderful soothing, relaxing, and immune‑boosting tea. A cup of homemade jasmine tea is a gentle way to unwind after a long day.

  • DIY Skincare: The flowers can be infused into a carrier oil (such as grapeseed, jojoba, or sweet almond oil) to create a fragrant, skin‑nourishing oil. Use it in homemade lotions, balms, massage oils, or natural perfumes.

  • Aromatherapy: The extracted essential oil of jasmine flowers is a natural perfume ingredient and is highly prized in aromatherapy for its ability to uplift mood, reduce anxiety, and promote restful sleep.

  • Garden Beauty & Pollinators: The fragrant blooms attract bees and other beneficial insects, adding ecological value to your garden.

Nutrients & Health Benefits (from the tea):

Jasmine tea (when made from true jasmine flowers, often combined with green or white tea) is traditionally associated with:

  • Antioxidant properties – May help protect cells from oxidative stress.

  • Stress reduction – The aroma alone has been shown in studies to lower heart rate and promote calmness.

  • Immune support – Offers mild anti‑inflammatory and antibacterial effects.

  • Digestive aid – A warm cup after meals can help soothe digestion.

Note: Always do your own research before using any plant medicinally, especially if pregnant or nursing.

Growing Conditions & Planting Tips:

Jasminum sambac is an easy‑going plant when given the right conditions. Follow these tips for success:

  • Light: Grows best in full sun to partial shade. In very hot climates, afternoon shade is appreciated.

  • Soil: Prefers good quality, well‑draining soil. The better the soil, the quicker and better the plant will grow. Raised garden beds or pots with drainage holes are ideal.

  • Watering: Water regularly but moderately. It does not like to sit in water, so allow the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. Water deeply after planting, then as required.

  • Temperature: Tolerates subtropical and tropical conditions. In cooler parts of Australia, grow it in a pot and move it to a sheltered position or indoors during frost.

  • Fertilising: A light application of organic compost or a balanced, slow‑release fertiliser in spring encourages abundant flowering.

  • Pruning: Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and promote bushier growth.

Care After Receiving Your Plant:

Your jasmine plant has been grown in partial shade. Follow these steps for a smooth transition:

  1. Unpack & hydrate – Remove the plant from packaging immediately. If the soil feels dry, give it a good drink of water.

  2. Rest period – Leave it in its original pot for a few days in a sheltered, semi‑shaded spot out of strong wind. This allows it to recover from shipping stress.

  3. Slow sun introduction – Most of our nursery plants grow in partial shade. Introduce them to full sun gradually over 5–7 days before transplanting to their permanent position. This prevents leaf burn and promotes healthy growth.

  4. Transplant – Re‑pot or plant into the ground at the latest when roots start to emerge from the bottom drainage holes.

  5. Water in well – Water thoroughly straight after planting, then as required.
