A Nutritional Powerhouse:
This isn’t just a sweet potato; it’s a functional food. Scientific research highlights its remarkable profile:

  • Rich in Anthocyanins: The vibrant purple colour comes from these powerful antioxidants, known for their anti-inflammatory and disease-fighting properties.

  • Packed with Carotenoids & Polysaccharides: Supports brain health, cardiovascular function, and metabolic wellness.

  • Versatile Health Benefits: Studies note potential for antioxidant, anticancer, and hepatoprotective (liver-protecting) activity, as well as improvements in memory and gut health.

From Garden to Table:

  • Tubers: Must be cooked (boiled, baked, or grilled) to enjoy their sweet, nutty flavour and creamy texture.

  • Leaves: A delicious and productive bonus! Harvest young leaves and shoots to stir-fry or braise lightly with garlic.

Planting & Growing Tips

  • Initial Care: Upon arrival, give your plant a good drink and place it in a partially shaded, sheltered spot. Allow it to recover from its journey for a few days before transplanting.

  • Transplanting: Plant into the garden or a large container when roots begin to emerge from the drainage holes. Water thoroughly immediately after planting.

  • Position: Prefers a sunny spot with well-drained soil. It will grow in partial shade but produces best in full sun. A slightly raised garden bed is ideal to prevent waterlogging.

  • Feeding: For a bumper harvest, feed with a liquid fertiliser like compost tea or a balanced organic formula during the growing season.

Additional Notes

  • Sun Acclimatisation: Our plants are grown in partial shade. Gradually introduce them to full sun over a week before planting in their permanent position.

  • Cooking Tip: Remember, the tubers must be cooked before consumption to be edible and enjoyable.

  • Disclaimer: As with any new food, we recommend you research before consumption. Please also see the full disclaimer in the footer of this page.
