Non-GMO, non-hybrid, open-pollinated, no chemically treated, heirloom seeds. The entire plant is edible but the seeds are mostly used as a spice and for medicinal purposes. Interesting facts about Carraway seeds (fruit): “Carum carvi or caraway is traditionally used for treatment of indigestion, pneumonia, and as appetizer, galactagogue, and carminative. Essential oil, fixed oil and many other valuable extractive compounds with industrial applications are prepared from caraway…..Caraway is widely used in food products due to its pleasant flavor and preservative properties….Caraway fruits are used for flavoring of rye bread and its infusion is a remedy for colic and digestive disorders, and to fight worms. (Mohaddese Mahboubi, 2019)”

Planting and growing tips: Best to grow from Autumn to Spring in subtropics. Avoid extreme heat and cold. Carraway loves full sun and moist soil. The better the soil, the quicker and better it will grow. It doesn’t like to sit in water so a well-drained position is best. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in raised garden beds.

  • Caraway is a biennial herbaceous plant that prefers cooler climates so growing during winter in subtropics is best
  • plants spacing of ~25cm, sowing depth ~8mm, germination ~7-14 days, maturity ~120 days, seeds in the second year of growing
