Culinary Uses:
The young, tender leaves have a mild, spinach-like flavour and are delicious raw in salads. As leaves mature, they are excellent cooked in stir-fries, soups, and stews. The small, greenish flowers are also edible and can be added fresh to dishes. For a unique treat, the seeds can be lightly roasted and enjoyed as a nutritious snack or sprinkled over meals.

Growing Guide for Australian Conditions:

Initial Care & Planting:
On Arrival: Water the potted plant thoroughly and place it in a sheltered, partially shaded spot for a few days to recover from transit.
Acclimatisation: Gradually introduce it to its final position over the course of a week.
Planting: Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and water in well after planting.
Ideal Conditions:
Climate: Thrives in all Australian climates, from cool temperate to tropical. It is remarkably hardy and adaptable.
Sun: Grows well in full sun to partial shade. In hotter inland areas, some afternoon shade is beneficial.
Soil: Extremely adaptable to a wide range of soil types, from poor compacted soils to rich garden loam. Tolerates both dry and periodically moist conditions.
Watering: Water regularly while establishing. Once mature, it is quite drought-tolerant but appreciates occasional water during extended dry periods.
Harvesting: Pick young leaves regularly for the best flavour. For medicinal use, harvest mature leaves and flowering spikes throughout the growing season.
