Sowing & Growing Guide
Upon Arrival: Your rhizome is ready to plant! If you cannot plant immediately, keep it in a cool, dark, and slightly moist place (like in a bag with damp peat moss or paper towel) to prevent it from drying out.
Planting:
Plant the rhizome horizontally, about 3-5 cm deep in a pot or garden bed.
Ensure the “eyes” (small buds) are facing upwards.
Position: Choose a warm, sheltered spot in partial shade to full sun with rich, well-draining soil. Slightly raised beds are ideal.
Initial Care: Water in well after planting and keep the soil consistently moist (but not waterlogged) until shoots appear.
Long-Term Care: This is a low-maintenance perennial. It will form a large clump over time. In cool climates, it may die back in winter but will re-shoot in spring. Feed with a balanced organic fertiliser during the growing season for the best yield.
Additional Notes
Freshness Guarantee: Our rhizomes are freshly dug and carefully selected for their viability.
Propagation: Once established, you can easily divide your own plant every few years to create more galangal or share with friends.
