White Sweet Potato Runner x 2 – Australian Native – Desert Yam, Native Sweet Potato – Ipomea costata
Australian Native – Desert Yam, Native Sweet Potato – Ipomea costata is an easy-to-grow perennial vegetable that doesn’t need much water at all. It will happily grow in full sun and half-shade. This is the white skin – white flesh variety. The leaves are also edible and we mostly use them in stir-fries or as a spinach substitute, braised for a couple of minutes in a little butter and garlic. Yumm!
Planting tips: Lay the runner horizontally into a shallow trench, cover it with soil and give it some water. Remember: the better the soil, the quicker and better your plants will grow. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in raised garden beds.
Eating tips: Great for boiling, baking, and grilling. This vegetable has to be cooked/boiled before eating.
The price is for two cuttings, naturally grown in my permaculture food forest. If you buy two lots, you get four cuttings. The runner length is about 20-30cm. Sending within Australia only. Not to WA.
