Seven Years Madagascar Bean SEEDS – Heirloom- Perennial Bean #5

$8.80

Madagascar bean is a perennial bean that grows up to 7 years in a warm climate. Very tasty and easy to grow. You can eat the beans raw and straight out of the green seedpods while there are still white coloured. The still white bean is a great addition to any salad or stir-fried dish. The ripe and dry beans can be stored in a dry place for months and cooked like any other dry beans. I have a nice recipe in my blog. Check it out here! More info and video about this great bean are below.

The price is for four beans.

Planting and growing tips: Placing the seeds in water for 24 hours before putting them into the soil will speed up the germination process. Madagascar bean is an easy-to-grow plant, that loves the sun and moderate watering, however, the better the soil, the quicker and better it will grow. It doesn’t like to sit in water so a well-drained position is best. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in slightly raised garden beds. The first beans should form within a couple of months after sowing depending on the growing conditions.

Additional notes:

  • The price is for five seeds, naturally grown in my permaculture food forest in Pacific Haven QLD Australia, well established, and ready to plant. I am sending it to QLD, NSW, SA, and Victoria in Australia only. Pick up by appointment only.
  • Most of our nursery plants grow in a half-shade. Introducing them to the sun slowly will promote their healthy growth after replanting to their permanent position.
  • Do your own research before trying any new foods. Please also note our disclaimer in the footer of this page.
