Best Sowing Times by Climate:

Temperate (e.g., Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide) – Autumn to early Spring (March–September)
Cool/Cold (e.g., Canberra, Alpine regions) – Spring to early Summer (September–December)
Subtropical (e.g., Brisbane, Northern NSW) – Autumn to Winter (April–July)
Tropical (e.g., Darwin, North Queensland) – Not recommended (Parsnips struggle in high heat and humidity)

Key Growing Tips:

Best Soil Temperature: 12–21°C for germination
Sunlight: Full sun or partial shade
Soil: Deep, loose, well-drained, and free from rocks
Frost Benefits: Light frosts improve sweetness
For the best results, sow seeds directly into the ground (as they don’t transplant well) and keep the soil consistently moist until germination.

The price is for 40 seeds.

  • plants space ~5cm, row space ~25cm, sowing depth ~0.5cm

Since parsnip seeds have a short viability period, it’s best to use fresh seeds each season and sow them directly into the garden rather than starting indoors.
