$19.80

Horseradish PLANT Heirloom – Armoracia rusticana is an evergreen perennial plant used as a spice and for its medicinal properties. We love the spicy taste of Horseradish and are adding it to many dishes, raw and in cooking. The fresh leaves can be eaten raw, or add to salads, smoothies, soups, on sandwiches. The roots can be ground to a paste and used in many different dishes. Leaves and roots, dehydrated and ground to powder, can be added to all sorts of dishes. Horseradish is also an important ingredient when fermenting vegetables. It keeps them nice and crunchy even when fermented.

Grow it in shade under a fruit tree for example and it will thrive. It can be grown in a container but shade in a hot climate is a must!

Planting and growing tips:

  1. Give it a good drink and place it in a shade position out of the wind.
  2. Leave it in the original pot for a few days until it recovers from the journey.
  3. Re-pot or plant into a larger pot or to the ground at the latest when the roots start to come out of the bottom holes.
  4. Watering straight after planting is essential! From then on, regular watering until the plant establishes is highly recommended.
  5. It will grow in nearly all sorts of soil and on an edge of a pond or in a water bowl, in a half-shade and shade position. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in slightly raised garden beds.

Additional notes:

  • The price is for one plant in a small pot, naturally grown with love in my permaculture food forest in Pacific Haven QLD Australia. Sending within Australia only, not to NT WA TAS. Pick up by appointment only.
  • We usually dispatch on Monday to make sure the plant arrives at your place before the weekend. This plant grows very quickly so I usually pot this plant after you have ordered it and wait for about one week before dispatching it to make sure it has established in the pot and is ready for the journey 🙂
  • Do your own research before trying any new foods. Please also note our disclaimer in the footer of this page.
