Daikon Radish SEEDS – Raphanus Sativus – Tasty Hardy Tillage Radish – Heirloom #60+

$6.60

Non-GMO, non-hybrid, open-pollinated, not chemically treated, heirloom seeds. Daikon Radish is a hardy and quickly growing vegetable with large and long taproots which may grow up to 90 cm in length. Both, the root and the leaves are edible raw and make a delicious salad. It can be pickled, and fermented and it is one of the most important Kimchi ingredients. We also like to add them to stir-fries and Asian types of soups. The root can also be roasted with some olive oil. Yummy! Check our second website at www.permaculturehaven.com and our Instagram page for some inspirational images and recipes. Perfect for growing in subtropics and warmer climates from early autumn to early summer. Very easy to grow mostly because of its excellent disease resistance and its ability to penetrate deep into the soil. This vegetable will aerate the soil while growing and because of that, it’s also called the tillage radish. I also like to mention its health benefits.

The price is for 60+ seeds.

Planting and growing tips: The Daikon radish is an easy-to-grow plant, that loves the sun and moist soil. It doesn’t need rich soil however, the better the soil, the quicker and better it grows. It doesn’t like to sit in water so a well-drained position is best. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in slightly raised garden beds. I have had a very good experience with growing this radish in full sun from early autumn till late spring. Withstands light frost. Sowing in late spring or during summer is not recommended as it will grow only thin roots and bolt very quickly in the hottest time of the year.
